VOLUNTEER GROUP STILL NEEDS HELP
 

The Maplewood First Aid Squad, which recently revealed a major financial crisis that could have shut it down later this year, is now expanding to six nights a week and doing some weekend work.


The volunteer group has also upgraded its Web site to accept donations online and allow would-be members to apply for membership on the Web.

SWINE FLU CONCERNS REACH NURSERY SCHOOL

At least one nursery school, Prospect Co-Op, joined the school district in alerting parents to the Swine Flu issue. Prospect officials sent home a letter Wednesday with students that essentially provides the state guidelines, but DOES NOT indicate any cases have been found.

Like the SO-M district letter, it suggests keeping children out of school for seven days with flu-like symptoms.

TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE VOTES UNANIMOUSLY FOR HOUSING OPTION

Market-rate housing, likely a 50-unit proposal put forth Monday night, is the preferred choice by the Township Committee to replace the former police station on Dunnell Road.

The TC voted, 5-0, Tuesday night to direct the economic development committee to pursue such a project.
